Individual Sandplay Therapy
Sandplay therapy is a hands on non-verbal therapeutic intervention that is based on the depth psychology of C, G. Jung and later was developed in the late 1950s by psychologist Dora Kalff, who Combined several psychotherapy techniques and philosophies to create her own therapeutic approach for working with children and adults.
Despite there being a small amount of research and evidence available to date. There is still enough concrete evidence to demonstrate that sandplay therapy is vitally important and beneficial for individuals living with mild to moderate Dementia. By creating scenes in the sand tray, a person’s inner world is explored, and emotions expressed. There is potential for improvement of both cognitive function and their communication skills.
